AMAZING animation features invade Portland, Genrified gets trippy, Saturday Secret Matinees continue and Rocket Sci-Fi Matinee kicks off its 2018 run!

It was a weird week at The Shadow Over Portland office.  It seemed to drag on forever, especially at the day job, but I just didn't seem to have enough time to get everything done.  It was like walking in Boris Karloff's shoes for seven days, trying to be on time, but always held back by oversized shoes, among other issues.

I've got so much to get done, but I just can't
seem to get moving!

But I hope you find the wait worth it, Pacific Northwest Horror/Sci Fi/Fantasy Fans, as I've found a lot of great films heading to local theaters in your area!
If you're into animation, you'll want to be in Portland, OR this month.  The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) is running a Studio Ghibli Retrospective this month, and you can catch subtitled and dubbed versions of many of their classic films.  The Academy Theater is showing all four Laika films, starting this week with Coraline.  And the Northwest Film Center is showing plenty of animated features, ranging from 1933's King Kong to The Adventures of Mark Twain, with claymation artist Will Vinton in attendance!

Speaking of the Northwest Film Center, the Genrified! series has plenty of treats in store!  Starting with Ken Russell's Altered States, the series brings in some New French Extremity, Cronenberg Body Horror and a classic black and white vampire film that isn't Dracula.   The Saturday Secret Matinees continues in Seattle, WA, while the monthly Rocket Sci-Fi Matinee in Bellingham, WA, kicks off 2018 next Saturday with the first of a series of films based (loosely at times) on the works of Jules Verne!  I've got some of the details below, but you'll want to check out the Horror/Sci Fi/Fantasy Calendar for the details on future events in these series, and much, MUCH MORE!!

It's never too early to get your event listed on the site.  Just email me at shadowoverportland@live.com with the details and any promotional artwork, and I'll take care of the rest.  You'll reach hundreds of readers in the Pacific Northwest and beyond, and, best of all, IT'S FREE!

And don't forget to spread the word.  If you attend any of the events listed here, let the organizers know you read about it at The Shadow Over Portland!
