Despite the warm weather, the MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR is just around the corner!


Well, the weather is unseasonably warm in the Portland area and it doesn't feel like the Halloween Season is just a week away.  If this keeps up, we might have a problem with masks melting away should temperatures rise just a bit.

And you don't want to be wearing one if that happens.
Things can get REAL messy!

But warm weather be damned, THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR is coming, and the office at The Shadow Over Portland is busy getting together all the great events that Pacific Northwest Horror/Sci Fi/Fantasy Fans wait for all year!

This edition of the Weekly Update is just a taste of the devilish delights coming our way.  Next weekend, The H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival and Cthulhu Con heads to Portland, OR, with enough cosmic horror to keep you insane all year long!  Check out the schedule at the link below for all the ghoulish guests and great films coming to the fest.  I'll be attending, so I hope to see you there!

As always, the city of St Helens, OR, turns into Halloweentown for the month of October, with more events than a witch can shake her broom at!  The link below will get you to the website containing all the details!!

And you'll find details about Metalesque Fest 2018, the start of several Halloween celebrations at local movie theaters and MUCH MORE!  But if you want to start planning your Halloween activities past next weekend, you need to check the Horror/Sci Fi/Fantasy Calendar for all the great events happening in October.  More is coming, so be keep checking back, as you won't want to miss a thing!

The Hollywood Theatre (4122 NE Sandy Blvd in Portland, OR) celebrates the 40 yahren anniversary of the original Battlestar Galactica with a screening of the feature length pilot for the 1978 sci-fi show.  Showtime is 7:30 pm.  For more details and advance ticket sales, visit The Hollywood Theatre website.

Weird Wednesday at The Joy Cinema and Pub (11959 SW Pacific Highway in Tigard, OR) brings the underappreciated The Return of the Vampire, starring Bela Lugosi as Drac... Um, the vampire Armand Tesla (Okay, basically he's Dracula).  Toss in a werewolf and a kick ass female vampire hunter, and you've got a film you DO NOT want to miss!  Showtime is 9:15 pm and admission is FREE, but you must be 18 or older to attend.  Be sure to support Weir Wednesday by stopping at the concession stand before the film for some tasty treats and beverages.  For more details, visit The Joy Cinema website.

The Vancouver Toy Junkies will host a Vintage Toy and Collectible Show today at Warehouse '23 (100 Columbia St #201 in Vancouver, WA).  Early bird admission is $10 and gets you into the show at 9:30 am.  General admission is $3 starting at 10:30 am.  Kids are admitted free.  The show runs until 2:30 pm.  For more details, visit the Facebook Event Page.

Lovecraft Film Festival and CthulhuCon infests The Hollywood Theatre (4122 NE Sandy Blvd in Portland, OR).  Guests include Guest of Honor Chiaki J. Konaka (screenwriter and author of Marebito, Psychic Vision: Jaganrei, Evil Dead Trap 2 and the books Charmed by Fear: Fundamental Rules of Horror Films and Etiquette of Fear: Horror Cinema Technology), director Richard Stanley (Hardware, Dust Devil and upcoming The Colour Out of Space) and the band Necronomidol.
