The summer blockbuster season has NOTHING on the great Horror/Sci Fi/Fantasy events coming to the Pacific Northwest!


Yes, the summer blockbuster season is in full swing at the local multiplexes, and I'm sure many of you will be checking out the new Godzilla movie, because.... GODZILLA! 

Seriously, for the love of Godzilla, who's going
to miss this mayhem on the big screen?
I know I'm not!

But if the rest of the films coming to the major theaters don't excite you, fear not!  Just take a look at this edition of the Weekly Update for a taste of the great Horror/Sci Fi/Fantasy films, cons, stage events and MORE coming to the Pacific Northwest this week.  You'll find lots to do after you check out the kaiju action!

Oh, if you're in the Portland, OR, area, skip the multiplex and head to The Hollywood Theatre to catch Godzilla, King of the Monsters.  Support your local independent theaters, folks!

And don't fret about the rest of the summer.  Just head to the Horror/Sci Fi/Fantasy Calendar for plenty of other great events coming our way.  From Satanic burlesque to 70mm sci fi thrills at The Hollywood Theatre and several great cons, you'll find plenty of reasons to avoid the multiplexes over the summer.

The Wonder: A Women in Sci Fi/Fantasy Film Class series at the Central Cinema (1411 21st Ave in Seattle, WA) presents a screening of the Goro Miyazaki/Studio Ghibli film Tales from Earthsea, based on the series by Ursula K. LeGuin tonight only at 7 pm.  The film will be presented in Japanese with English subtitles.  For more details, including advance ticket sales, visit the Central Cinema website.

Tonight's Weird Wednesday feature at The Joy Cinema and Pub (11959 SW Pacific Highway in Tigard, OR) might not be of much interest to Horror/Sci Fi/Fantasy Fans, as it's a Mystery Vansploitation Feature.  The title will be revealed only as the opening credits roll.  It COULD be the original Prom Night, but judging by the photo from their website, I really doubt it.  The film starts at 9:15 pm and admission is FREE, but you must be 18 or older to attend to get in.  And be sure to support Weird Wednesday by stopping at the concession stand for some tasty treats and beverages before the show.  For more details, visit The Joy Cinema website.

The Portland Horror Film Festival returns to The Hollywood Theatre (4122 NE Sandy Blvd in Portland, OR) tonight.  The scary happenings run through Saturday, June 8.  Tickets go on sale at 10 am on Friday, April 5, 2019.  Mark your calendar and check back here, or at the Facebook Event Page, for more details.
