Find a cool theater to help ride out the upcoming heat wave with this edition of the Weekly Update!

With temperatures rising all around the world, we all knew the Pacific Northwest would be on the receiving end of hot weather at some point.  And it looks like this is the week, as temperatures will get over 100 degrees (about 38 degrees Celsius) in some places.  And I can't think of a better week to head to a cool, dark theater for a couple hours.  Every chance I get.

I know, I'm an hour early for the film.  Please, just let me in.  It's hot out here!

Well, this edition of the Weekly Update is full of great films to check out during the heat wave, from new releases to old favorites.  But please click on the links provided before you head out.  Last year's heat dome event overtaxed AC units in some of the older theaters and forced them to cancel screenings.  While it might not be as hot this week, expect some issues.  Already, the Clinton Street Theater in Portland, OR, has cancelled two films in the Portland Mermaid Week series, to ensure everything keeps working at the theater.

Of course, if you just want to stay home and dream of a cool autumn, the Horror/Sci Fi/Fantasy Calendar is fully updated (well, for the time being) with lots of great events taking place during the rest of 2022, and even a few in 2023!

As usual, I'm still at the day job, so I'm keeping this short.  Everyone be safe, stay hydrated and I'll be back next week with another update from The Shadow Over Portland!

If you'd like to support the site, please visit my Ko-fi page.  Thank you!
