If you're staying indoors this week due to the coming rain, the Weekly Update has a few suggestions for Pacific Northwest Horror/Sci Fi/Fantasy fans!

Well, we had a brief glimpse of summer, but now the rain is coming back to the Pacific Northwest and it's too easy to just stay dry inside.  Well, lucky for Pacific Northwest Horror/Sci Fi/Fantasy fans, this edition of the Weekly Update has plenty of suggestions on places to go while you wait for things to dry out.

Huh, the theater is really empty.  I wonder
if it was my shirt?

Speaking of movies, the Portland Horror Film Festival gets underway on Thursday, June 8 at The Hollywood Theatre in Portland, OR.  You can catch a screening of Nosferatu or Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, as The Invincible Czars are touring with a live musical accompaniment to both films across the Pacific Northwest.  The Rio Theatre in Vancouver, BC, is screening Susperia and The Bird with the Crystal Plumage this week.  The Central Cinema in Seattle, WA, is showing What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?  The new horror film, It Comes at Night opens in several theaters in the area.  And SIFF brings the horror film Escape Room to Seattle, WA, with director Will Wernick schedule to attend.  And that's just this weekend!

Of course, you'll want to check out the Horror/Sci Fi/Fantasy Calendar for some long range planning.  You'll find stuff happening well into 2018, including details on Horrific 3: A Night of Horror Themed Belly Dancing in Tacoma, WA, in January (tickets are on sale now) and the dates for next year's Lilac City Comic Con.  As for this year, check out the listing for GeekGirlCon '17 in Seattle, WA, in September, the Halloween in July Car Rally and Concert this July in Portland, OR, and Oz Con 2017, taking place in Portland, OR at the end of this month.

Remember, if you are hosting, or know of, an event that would interest Horror/Sci Fi/Fantasy fans in the Pacific Northwest, email me at shadowoverportland@live.com and I'll post it on the site.  Listing your event is FREE and will reach hundreds of local readers.

And yes, I am happy to post your October event right away.  Halloween is coming and the page will be very full, so don't get buried under all the events to come.  Let readers know about your event during the MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR early so they can add it to their calendar now!

And, should you attend any of the events listed below, please let the organizers know you read about it at The Shadow Over Portland!!

Tonight's Weird Wednesday feature at The Joy Cinema and Pub (11959 SW Pacific Highway in Tigard, OR) is only listed as a R-rated Bigfoot Movie, as one of the several titles this film was released under is close to another recent film that the management wants to avoid confusion.  So the only hint you get as to the true identity of the film is the photo above, taken from the theater's website.  But the theater wants to assure you this film earns the R-rating, with a bunch of barely-clad women and scenes not for the faint of heart!  The show starts at 9:15 pm and admission is FREE, though you must be 21 or older to attend.  Be sure to help keep Wednesdays WEIRD by stopping at the concession stand before the feature for some tasty snacks and beverages.  Do not bring outside food or drinks with you, as it will make Bigfoot very angry!  For more details, visit The Joy Cinema website.
