Happy May Day, Pacific Northwest Horror/Sci Fi/Fantasy Fans!


Yes, it's May Day, so dance around the May Pole in celebration that we are now at the half way point to THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR!

Weird Wednesday at The Joy Cinema and Pub (11959 SW Pacific Highway in Tigard, OR) gets classy with a screening of the William Castle classic, House on Haunted Hill, starring Vincent Price!  It will be a night of food and drinks and ghosts, and perhaps even a few murders!!  Don't miss this one on the big screen!!  Showtime is 9:15 pm and admission is FREE, but you must be 18 or older to attend.  Don't forget to support The Joy's mission to keep Wednesdays WEIRD by stopping at the concession stand for some tasty treats and beverages before the show.  After all, you want some food and drinks before the ghosts show up!  For more details, visit The Joy Cinema website.

Crypticon Seattle takes place this weekend at the Doubletree Hotel (18740 International Blvd in Seattle, WA).  Dee Wallace (Cujo, The Howling, The Lords of Salem), Seattle native C. J. Graham (who played Jason Voorhees in Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives and be in costume as Jason for limited amounts of professional photo ops), horror legend Barbara Steele (Black Sunday), Sheryl Lee (Twin Peaks, John Carpenter's Vampires), Amelia Kinkade (Angela of the Night of the Demons franchise), Eugene Clark (Big Daddy from Land of the Dead), David Howard (Art the Clown from Terrifier), Twin Peaks star Ray Wise, Harry Manfredini (composer for the Friday the 13th), actor Jason Brooks (Friday the 13th: Vengeance) and Mitch Pileggi, William B. UPDATE: Local horror filmmaker Joe Sherlock's latest anthology film, Dark Zone Thirteen, will have its world premiere at Crypticon.

The Darkside Cinema (215 SW 4th St in Corvallis, OR) will screen the William Castle classic The Tingler, starring Vincent Price, as the Sci-Fi Extravaganza #22 tonight.  The show starts at 6 pm with trailers and other goodies, followed by the feature at 7 pm.  Admission is $5, which includes credit towards food items.  Be aware, heckling is encouraged.  For more details, visit the Facebook Page.

Wednesday, May 15

The Portland Horror Film Festival presents Satanic Panic 2 tonight at 7:30 pm tonight at The Hollywood Theatre (4122 NE Sandy Blvd in Portland, OR).  The festivities include a screening of the banned blaxploitation film Abby (Warner Bros. sued AIP for ripping off The Exorcist), starring the amazing William Marshall (Blacula), and will be followed by some crazy behind-the-scene stories from director William Girdler's associate, J. Patrick Kelly III.  Expect some satanic short films and devilish burlesque by Meghan Mayhem and Rummy Rose, as well as raffle prizes and sinister giveaways!  For more details and advance ticket sales, visit The Hollywood Theatre website.
