The Summer months are starting off with lots of events to make Pacific Northwest Horror/Sci Fi/Fantasy Fans smile.

Yes, summer is almost upon us and you'd think indoor events might slow down a bit.  After all, it's almost a tradition that one head out into the sweltering sun, burn to a crisp and drenched in sweat, for at least a few days before spending the rest of the summer observing another Pacific Northwest tradition, complaining about the heat.

I know I was complaining about the rain a few weeks ago.
But it's almost July, damn it, and time to bitch about how I didn't want it to be THIS hot.

But, as this edition of the Weekly Update shows, Pacific Northwest Horror/Sci Fi/Fantasy Fans should have no problem finding somewhere cool to get out of the sun and enjoy some great movies, stage events, conventions and more.

To start, the Seattle International Film Festival is coming to an end, but you'll still find plenty of great genre offerings below.  The Portland Horror Film Festival starts on June 13 at The Hollywood Theatre and is full of special guests and great films, including the world premiere of of the Bigfoot feature Big Legend and the Pacific Northwest premiere of Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich!  In Lakewood, WA, Little Shop of Horrors is still on stage for another two weeks.  You'll also find details on Frankenstein's Comic Swap and Comix Thing and VHS Swap this Saturday in Portland, OR, and Arts, Crafts and Curiosities at Erebus! in Kelso, WA on Saturday as well.

If you want to spend some time outdoors, head to the Oregon Coast as Astoria and Seaside celebrate the Annual Goonies Day this weekend.  Or head to the 99W Drive-In in Newberg, OR, for Raiders of the Lost Ark, also this weekend.  And that's just a small sample of the great events covered below!

But be sure to stop at the Horror/Sci Fi/Fantasy Calendar, for details on events happening all year!  You'll find information on classes at the Davis Graveyard this July and August, the 70mm presentations at The Hollywood Theatre in July (including the return of 2001: A Space Odyssey), new guests coming to the Rose City Comic Con in September and MUCH MORE!

AND over on the Haunted Attraction page, you'll find the FIRST listing for THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR, as Frighthouse Station in Tacoma, WA, has announced the time and dates for their Halloween attractions!

Remember, it's never too late (or too early) to have your event listed on the site.  Just email me at shadowoverportland@live.com and I'll take care of the rest.  Best of all, you don't have to worry about a pesky bill showing up in you inbox, as listing on the site is FREE!

And, should you attend any of the events listed below, let the organizers know you read about it at The Shadow Over Portland!
