The Northwest Flying Saucer Film Fest is looking for Pacific Northwest filmmakers to submit their UFO themed short films, documentaries, animation or music videos.  The fest will take place on Friday, September 12, at McFiler's Chehalis Theater (558 N Market Blvd in Chehalis, WA).  The standard deadline for submissions is August 5.  Visit the FilmFreeway link for details and to submit your film. 

The 17th Annual Guignolfest: 3-Day Horror Film Contest and Festival is accepting teams now.  The kick-off takes place on Friday, October 17, at Beulahland (118 NE 28th Ave in Portland, OR), with films due on  Monday, October 20.  The screening takes place on Saturday, October 25, at the Clinton Street Theater.

Rene Laloux's (Fantastic Planet) animated sci fi film The Time Masters is playing at the Clinton Street Theater (2522 SE Clinton St in Portland, OR) tonight at 7 pm.

The Kenworthy Performing Arts Centre (508 S Main St in Moscow, ID) will screen the Japanese psychological horror film Cure tonight at 7 pm.  Presented in Japanese with English subtitles.

The new body horror film Together opens today at the SIFF Cinema Uptown (511 Queen Anne Ave N in Seattle, WA; scheduled through Thursday, August 7), and Cinema 21 (616 NW 21st Ave in Portland, OR; scheduled through Thursday, August 7).

The Grand Illusion Cinema brings Hundreds of Beavers back to Central Cinema (1411 21st Ave in Seattle, WA) tonight at 8 pm.  60% of ticket sales go to the Grand Illusion relocation fund.

The 1984 version of George Orwell's 1984, starring John Hurt, is playing the Clinton Street Theater (2522 SE Clinton St in Portland, OR) tonight at 7 pm.  This screening will feature the For the Love of Big Brother score by Eurythmics.

The Moscow Film Society presents the 1978 remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers at the Kenworthy Performing Arts Centre (508 S Main St in Moscow, ID) tonight at 7 pm.

Quest for Burlesque: The Bard's Backlight Showcase, a D and D themed show, takes place at the Whiteside Theatre (361 SW Madison Ave in Corvallis, OR) tonight at 8 pm.  This is an 18 and older event.

Horror Night at the St Johns Twin Cinemas (8704 N Lombard St in Portland, OR) will screen the sharksploitation film Cruel Jaws, and an unnamed classic zombie flick, tonight starting at 9 pm.

The Hollywood Theatre (4122 NE Sandy Blvd in Portland, OR) will screen 2001's space Western musical The American Astronaut in GLORIOUS 35mm today at 3 pm.

Wednesday, August 6 

The Grand Illusion Cinema will show the sci fi satire www.RachelOrmont.com at the Here-After (alley entrance on 2505 1st Ave in Seattle, WA) tonight at 8 pm.  This is a 21 and older event, and be advised, the film contains material of a very explicit nature.

The Grand Illusion Cinema's Outdoor Movie series presents Voyage of the Rock Aliens, starring Pia Zadora and Michael Berryman (The Hills Have Eyes), at Dirty Couch Brewing (2715 W Fort St in Seattle, WA) tonight at 9 pm.  Admission is pay-what-you-will, with a $5 minimum, with all money from ticket sales going to the Grand Illusion's relocation fund.  Admission for kids 12 and under is free.
