As of January 9, I'm back in the office, have figured out how to make my browser and Blogger play nice once again, and am working on updating the Calendar.  Lots of new events are already posted; check them out below.

Happening This Month
 
Science Fiction January! continues at the Academy Theater (7818 SE Stark St in Portland, OR) through Friday, January 30.

The Egyptian Theatre (229 South Broadway in Coos Bay, OR) is showing the sci fi classic Blade Runner and Steven Spielberg's family sci fi classic E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial.  Visit the link for days and showtimes.

The Animation Tuesday series at the Capitol Theater (206 5th Ave SE in Olympia, WA) is showing 2018's The Wolf House Tuesdays in January.  Inspiring by the case of Colonia Dignidad in Chile (a post-WWII isolated colony established by emigrant Germans and link to multiple atrocities), the film "masquerades as an animated fairy tale produced by the leader of the sect in order to indoctrinated its followers."

The Olympia Film Society Kids Club is showing Studio Ghibli's Spirited Away on Sundays in January at the Capitol Theater (206 5th Ave SE in Olympia, WA).  Kids 12 and under are admitted free.

Friday, January 16

Friday Night Frights will show Steve Miner's 1985 horror/comedy House at the Blue Mouse Theatre (2611 N Proctor St in Tacoma, WA) tonight at 10 pm.

2007's Blade Runner: The Final Cut will be shown at the Keller Auditorium (222 SW Clay St in Portland, OR), with the Avex Ensemble providing live music accompaniment, tonight at 7:30 pm.

The Garland Theater (924 W Garland Ave in Spokane, WA) is showing the romantic fantasy The Princess Bride tonight at tomorrow.

The Garland Theater (924 W Garland Ave in Spokane, WA) is showing Stanley Kubrick's The Shining tonight and tomorrow.

PAMCUT is screening Ryan Coogler's vampire classic Sinners today at the Tomorrow Theater (3530 SE Division St in Portland, OR).

Two of the best horror films of last year, Sinners and Weapons, are playing at the Kiggins Theater (1011 Main St in Vancouver, WA) through Tuesday, January 20.  Be aware, this is NOT a double feature; separate admission required for each film.

The 5th Avenue Cinema (510 SW Hall St in Portland, OR) is showing The People's Joker in GLORIOUS 35mm through Sunday, January 18.

Parts One and Two of the Dune saga are playing at the Rio Theatre (1660 East Broadway in Vancouver, BC) tonight starting at 6:30 pm.  And double feature tickets are available, or buy a ticket for your favorite in the series.

The Olympia Film Society brings Bi Gan's sci fi drama Resurrection to the Capitol Theater (206 5th Ave SE in Olympia, WA) through Sunday, January 18.

PAMCUT is screening the horror film Good Boy today at the Tomorrow Theater (3530 SE Division St in Portland, OR).

PAMCUT is screening the body horror fairy tale The Ugly Stepsister tonight at the Tomorrow Theater (3530 SE Division St in Portland, OR).

The sci fi anime Paprika is playing tonight, and on Wednesday, January 21, at the Salem Cinema (1127 Broadway St NE in Salem, OR).

Mario Bava's Danger: Diabolik is playing at The Beacon (4405 Rainier Ave S in Seattle, WA) through Wednesday, January 21.  Visit the link for days and showtimes.

Sunday, January 18

The Garland Theater (924 W Garland Ave in Spokane, WA) is showing the cult classic Highlander tonight and tomorrow.

PAMCUT is screening the film Buffy the Vampire Slayer today at the Tomorrow Theater (3530 SE Division St in Portland, OR).  This is part of the BYO-Crafternoon series, so lights will be on low for crafting.

It's a Super Krime Double Feature, with Chandu the Magician (starring Bela Lugosi as the evil Roxor) and The Mask of Fu Manchu, with Boris Karloff in the titular role, at The Beacon (4405 Rainier Ave S in Seattle, WA) starting today at 2 pm.

Wednesday, January 21 

The Garland Theater (924 W Garland Ave in Spokane, WA) is showing the psychological horror film Jacob's Ladder tonight and tomorrow.



Church of Film brings Little Red Riding Hood and The Monsters to the Clinton Street Theater (2522 SE Clinton St in Portland OR) tonight at 7 pm.

Thursday, January 22

The Oregon Symphony presents Star Trek: The Ultimate Voyage, with footage from both film and television series on the big screen with a live symphony orchestra performing music live to picture, takes place tonight at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall (1037 SW Broadway in Portland, OR) at 7:30 pm.

Baron Von Terror presents the Stephen King cult classic Maximum Overdrive in Hecklevision at the Central Cinema (1411 21st Ave in Seattle, WA) tonight at 8 pm.

Ken Russell's Altered States is playing at The Beacon (4405 Rainier Ave S in Seattle, WA) tonight at 7:30 pm, and tomorrow at 4 pm.

Friday, January 23

Cult of! presents JurASSic Park, a drag and burlesque show based on the classic dinosaur movie, at the Clinton Street Theater (2522 SW Clinton St in Portland, OR) tonight at 8 pm.  Doors open for the 21 and older show at 7 pm.

A 4K restoration of Guillermo del Toro's Chronos is playing tonight and tomorrow night at Cinema 21 (616 NW 21st Ave in Portland, OR).

The Hollywood Theatre (4122 NE Sandy Blvd in Portland, OR) is showing the Canadian slasher film Curtains tonight at 7:30 pm.

The Star Wars films A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi and Rogue One are playing at CineMagic (2021 SE Hawthorne Blvd in Portland, OR) through Thursday, January 31.  Visit the link for showtimes.

The Rio Theatre (1660 East Broadway in Vancouver, BC) is showing Sam Raimi's Evil Dead trilogy starting at 7 pm.  Buy a single ticket for your favorite in the series, all catch all three for one groovy price.

Sunday, January 25

The Garland Theater (924 W Garland Ave in Spokane, WA) is showing John Carpenter's sci-fi/horror classic The Thing tonight.

Bi Gan's sci fi drama Resurrection is playing at the Rio Theatre (1660 East Broadway in Vancouver, BC) tonight at 8:15 pm.

Roland West's 1930 film The Bat Whispers (a remake of his 1926 thriller The Bat, and yes, it's the basis for the 1959 film with Agnes Moorehead and Vincent Price) is playing at The Beacon (4405 Rainier Ave S in Seattle, WA) today at 2 pm and tomorrow at 4:30 pm.

The Whiteside Theatre (361 SW Madison Ave in Corvallis, OR) is showing Star Wars: A New Hope today and on Wednesday, January 28.

Monday, January 26 

The final film in director Fritz Lang's Dr. Mabuse series, The Thousand Eyes of Dr. Mabuse is playing at The Beacon (4405 Rainier Ave S in Seattle, WA) tonight at 7:30 pm and tomorrow at 4:30 pm.

Tuesday, January 27 

The Polish horror/musical about two carnivorous mermaid sisters, The Lure, is playing at the Clinton Street Theater (2522 SE Clinton St in Portland, OR) tonight at 7 pm.

Wednesday, January 28 

Church of Film brings The Green Music Box, a children's film involving spies looking for the titular music box, clowns and cave monsters, to the Clinton Street Theater (2522 SE Clinton St in Portland, OR) tonight at 7 pm.

Thursday, January 29 

The sci fi/horror film Iron Lung is playing at the Darkside Cinema (215 SW 4th St in Corvallis, OR) through Thursday, February 5.  (NOTE: the showing through Saturday, January 31, are SOLD OUT).

The film opens on Friday, January 30, at CineMagic (2021 SE Hawthorne Blvd in Portland, OR), playing through Wednesday, February 4.

The film is playing at the Rio Theatre (1660 East Broadway in Vancouver, BC) tonight at 11:30 pm, and tomorrow night at 9:30 pm.

An absolutely insane (in the best way) mix of Indonesia folklore and a blatant Terminator rip-off, Lady Terminator is playing at The Beacon (4405 Rainier Ave S in Seattle, WA) tonight at 10 pm.

Edgar Wright's Scott Pilgrim vs. the World is playing at the Clinton Street Theater (2522 SE Clinton St in Portland, OR) tonight at 7 pm.

PAMCUT is screening the sci fi anime classic Ghost in the Shell today at the Tomorrow Theater (3530 SE Division St in Portland, OR). 

The animated adaptation of Philip K. Dick's A Scanner Darkly is playing tonight and on Wednesday, February 3, at the Salem Cinema (1127 Broadway St NE in Salem, OR).

Melies: Right in the Eye, a collection of 12 George Melies films with live music accompaniment, is playing tonight at the Salem Cinema (1127 Broadway St NE in Salem, OR).

Wednesday, February 18 

The Re-Run Theater series at the Hollywood Theatre (4122 NE Sandy Blvd in Portland, OR) pays tribute to the late Gil Gerard with a screening of the theatrical version of Buck Rogers in the 25th Century tonight at 7 pm.

Friday, February 20

Friday Night Frights brings Tim Burton's Corpse Bride to the Blue Mouse Theater (2611 N Proctor St in Tacoma, WA) tonight at 10 pm.

Saturday, February 28
