The patrons have spoken and this month's This is Your Theatre presentation at The Hollywood Theatre (4122 NE Sandy Blvd in Portland, OR) is Wes Craven's classic A Nightmare on Elm Street in GLORIOUS 35mm! But The Hollywood isn't done yet, as the original will be followed by the sequel, A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge!

The Joy Cinema and Pub (11959 SW Pacific Highway in Portland, OR) is bringing the films from Saturday's Spook-A-Thon back for encore showings through Wednesday, November 2. King Kong vs. Godzilla will screen again on Sunday, October 30, at 2 pm, Creature from the Black Lagoon will screen on Sunday and Monday (October 30 and 31) at 7 pm, followed both nights by The Evil Dead at 9 pm. Weird Wednesday at The Joy Cinema and Pub (11959 SW Pacific Highway in Portland, OR) presents the British cautionary tale Cosmic Monsters (AKA The Strange World of Planet X) tonight at 9:15 pm. Starring Forrest Tucker (yes, the guy from F Troop),
the film involves an alien warning humanity about the dangers of
experimenting with ultra-sensitive magnetic fields. And, of course, we
don't listen and suddenly we get GIANT SPIDERS! And a few other
monstrous insects to boot. Released the same year as The Crawling Eye (another British production), it looks like Tucker got a nice working vacation out of the deal. As always, admission to the Weird Wednesday
screening is FREE, but you must be 21 or older to attend. Be sure to
spend some of the money you save on admission at the concession stand
and please, DO NOT bring outside food or drinks with you. The Cosmic

I just don't know what's going on with RiffTrax these days. First, they go after the Kaiju classic Mothra, but tonight, the group is going a bit too far for me as they mock the low budget classic, Carnival of Souls.
Sure, it might not be as polished as some other, bigger budgeted
production, but this film is a classic, one that DOES NOT deserve
mocking. Take on The Killer Shrews (a personal favorite of mine)
and I'd be laughing with you. But I won't watch this travesty. Hey,
it's my blog and I say what I want. Anyway, the live performance takes
place tonight at 8 pm ET, 7 pm CT, and tape-delayed to 7 pm MT and 8 pm
PT. The event will be rebroadcasted on Monday, October 31 at 7:30 pm

but I can say that's not the case. Subgenres exist that would bring an

into a few), which is why I'm mentioning that Kumoricon, the anime convention held in Vancouver, WA, over the past five years, is moving across the river to The Oregon Convention Center (777

With Halloween on a Monday this year, the Seattle Theatre Group picked the PERFECT movie for their Silent Movie Monday presentation, Nosferatu. Director F. W. Murnau's unofficial adaptation of Bram Stoker's Dracula
was nearly lost, as all prints and negatives were destroyed after
Stoker's widow won a lawsuit against the production. Thankfully, copies
survived, so you can marvel at Max Schreck's masterful performance as

The 11th Annual Portland Zombie Walk takes place today from 3 to 6 pm, starting and ending at Pioneer Courthouse Square.
The route has yet to be posted, but there will be TWO Thriller dances!

fans are in luck, as Evil Dead: The Musical opens at the Metro Studio Theatre (1411

All Freakin' Night starts tonight at midnight at the Capitol Theater (206 5th Ave SE in Olympia, WA). Part of the Olympia Film Festival, this all night screening is presented by the Olympia Film Society and Burial Grounds
(a coffee shop at 211 5th Ave SE in Olympia, WA; I WANNA GO!). Doors
open at 11 pm, the show starts at midnight with the silent film Haxan, with musical accompaniment by Birch Graft Ensemble. Next up is the UNCUT digital restoration of I Drink Your Blood, followed by Cat in the Brain, The Sinful Dwarf and ending with Dr. Butcher, MD.
