THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR is getting closer!

You can feel it in the air, the pleasant chill in the morning and once the sun sets.  You can hear an occasional fallen leaf rattle down the road during a soft breeze.  Yes, fall is coming, and that means the official Halloween season is almost here!

Still, events are trickling into The Shadow Over Portland office at a pretty slow pace compared to two years ago.  And we all know why, so I'm not going to say anything else on the matter (other than please, use the links on the site to check on the venue's COVID safety protocols; many are now requiring either proof of vaccination OR proof of a negative COVID test within the past 48 hours before you can enter).  I'm just going to sit at my desk and wait for the exciting films, haunted attractions and such that will fill our October nights with fun and frights.

Because we have to have a Halloween season this year.  We just have to.

I'd like to say I'd be screaming on the phone to someone important if COVID cancels Halloween again,
but who the hell do you call?

When those events start popping up, you know The Shadow Over Portland will help you have a merry, scary Halloween.  In the Horror/Sci Fi/Fantasy Calendar, you'll find films, festivals, balls and dances, bazaars and the like.  If you're looking for haunted attractions and corn mazes, visit the HALLOWEEN 2021 page.  You can access everything by clicking the links at the top of this page.

If you know of, or are running, a haunted attraction, you can email me at shadowoverportland@live.com with the details, and I'll add your attraction to the HALLOWEEN 2021 page.  And you won't need to worry about receiving a bill, as listing on the site is FREE!

Stay healthy, wear a mask and keep checking back as The Shadow Over Portland will continue to provide keep Pacific Northwest Horror/Sci Fi/Fantasy Fans up-to-date with all the Halloween happenings!  And if you'd like to support the site, please head over to my Ko-fi page.

Things are looking bleak as we head towards THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR!

Man, I feel like the crazy old coot, yammering about a death curse, in an 80s slasher flick.

But don't forget, those guys are always RIGHT!

Okay, I hate to say this yet again, but the current surge of infections caused by the Delta Variant of COVID-19 has causing events to be canceled, and forcing venues to stiffen their safety guidelines.  Many theaters are back to limiting audience size, which makes advance tickets a must.  Also, some venues now require either proof of vaccination or proof of a negative COVID test within the previous 48 hours.

All the medical models I've seen predict infection rates and hospitalizations will continue to climb until at least mid-September.  And if we don't see a drop in those numbers soon after the spike, it might lead to another quiet Halloween season.

So, if you plan on attending any of the events listed below, listed in the Horror/Sci Fi/Fantasy Calendar or the HALLOWEEN 2021 page, please go to the links provided for each event for the most up-to-date information.

The good news is all the events happening this week.  Pacific Northwest Horror/Sci Fi/Fantasy Fans will find plenty of films in local theaters, a Portland-area corn maze offering a sneak peek, and a Halloween Swamp Meet next weekend.

Of course, the Horror/Sci Fi/Fantasy Calendar is filling up with film series, bazaars, conventions and MUCH MORE almost daily.  And the HALLOWEEN 2021 page has a few more attractions included, so please check both pages out.

If you'd like to support the site, please buy me a coffee on my Ko-fi page.

Stay safe, wear your mask, and I'll be back with another update next week from The Shadow Over Portland!
