Find some fun away from the sun with this edition of the Weekly Update

Okay, I'm NOT going to post another headline mentioning the heat wave happening in areas of the Pacific Northwest.  But it doesn't mean I can't mentioned the sun.  Sure, it's responsible for the hot weather, but let's skip that and talk about the other ways the sun is too damn much.

For one thing, it's just too damn bright.  Doesn't matter if you're in a car, on a bike, or just walking around, you never know when the sun's gonna blind you.  Yes, I know, that's why we have sunglasses, but come on, the sun ain't gonna be stopped by some shaded lenses.

And you have to worry about overexposure to UV rays.  Vitamin D is great and all, but the sun can really bake you skin.  And man, do I like to avoid any sunburn.  After a few painful days, you get to watch your skin slough off, which is pretty messy.  And no, you just can't rely on sunscreen to save your skin.

Sunscreen or not, I'm usually charbroiled after a half hour of direct sunlight.

So, if you think being out in the sun is as overrated as I do, the Weekly Update is loaded with movies and a few other indoor events that will help to keep your eyes from seeing spots and your skin on your body.

If you're looking to start checking out things to do during the Halloween season, the Horror/Sci Fi/Fantasy Calendar is full of things happening during the rest of the year, and even a few happening in 2023!  Never too early to start filling in your calendar with the events you don't want to miss.

That's all for this week.  Be safe, don't forget to stay hydrated, and I'll be back next week with another update from The Shadow Over Portland.

If you'd like to support the site, please visit my Ko-fi page.  Thank you!
