Time for a Shadow Over Portland special update!

Hey Northwest Horror Fans, we've got a massive storm heading our way, with rain and high winds in the forecast.  So if you were planning to visit a spooky outdoor attraction this weekend, be sure to check the event's website before heading out.  Several events are warning that the weather might force them to close this weekend, so save yourself a trip and make sure the attraction is open before bundling up for the elements!  You can check the links on The Shadow Over Portland Corn Mazes, Haunted Corn Mazes and Pumpkin Patches page for website updates and other details.  Stay safe out there!!

With that warning out of the way, here's a peek at some of the events I just added to the Horror Calendar.

The 99W Drive-In (Highway 99 (3100 Portland Rd) in Newberg, OR) will screen the 1956 sci-fi classic Invasion of the Body Snatchers tonight, following the remake of The Magnificent Seven through Sunday, October 16.  The first film starts at about 7 pm, rain or shine (expect rain and wind this weekend).  For more details, and a link to the drive-in's website, visit 99W Facebook Page

Church of Film presents Poe, Poe Poe:  3 Classic Edgar Allan Poe Films on Wednesday, October 19, at 8 pm at the North Star Ballroom (635 N Killingsworth Ct in Portland, OR).  The films include French pioneer Jean Epstein's version of The Fall of the House of Usher, followed by Austrian director Kurt Steinwedner's The Raven and French New Wave critic Alexandre Astruc's adaptation of The Pit and the Pendulum.  For more details, visit the Facebook Event Page

Experience Theatre Project presents Gothic Horror Stories tonight at 6 pm at decarli restaurant (4545 SW Watson Ave in Beaverton, OR).  A fundraiser for the troupe's 2017 Shakespeare in the Round production, this event invites you to dress up in your Victorian finery and mingle among the most popular horror authors of all time, including Poe, Mary Shelley, Stoker, Bronte and others.  A silent auction begins at 6 pm, cocktails and hors d'oeuvers at 6:30 pm, with horror stories beginning at 7:30 pm.  Tickets to the event are $45.  For more details, visit the Facebook Event Page.  You must be 21 or older to attend.

The Joy Cinema and Pub (11959 SW Pacific Highway in Tigard, OR) Scare-A-Thon lineup has been announced!  Starting at 2 pm on Saturday, October 28, you can watch Creature from the Black Lagoon in 3D, followed by King Kong verse Godzilla, Count Yorga, Vampire, The Evil Dead (the original) and Blacula.  Sounds like something for all Northwest Horror Fans!! All-Day Passes are just $20 and are on sale NOW at The Joy.  Tickets for individual films can be purchased at the door for regular prices.  Visit The Joy Cinema website or their Facebook Page for showtimes and more details.

Get ready for the Scary Time at the Merry Time Halloween Party at the Merry Time Bar and Grill (995 Marine Dr in Astoria, OR).  The party starts at 8 pm, with the bewitching Bettie Mayhem and Portland's Elvis as your hosts.  Dress in a costume and enter one of three costume contests: Best Vampira Costume (did you know she attended Astoria High School?), Scariest Costume or Crowd Favorite.  You could also win a prize for Best Thriller Dance, Best Zombie Walk, or others.  Also, bring your scariest short story or horror haiku to the Scary Story Open Mic Competition, have a Tarot Card reading, or just watch horror films on the TVs.  For more details, visit the Facebook Event Page.

Don't worry, I'll be adding much more to the Horror Calendar, as well as the other pages, this weekend.  And remember, if you want your event listed on The Shadow Over Portland, all you need to do is email me at shadowoverportland@live.com and I'll be sure to post it.  Remember, I DO NOT CHARGE to list any event.  I'm just happy to share all the fun, spooky events happening in the Pacific Northwest.

Keep check back, Horror Fans!
