I'm hoping things improve at the day job soon...

Yeah, I'm very late once again.  I'm hoping to change that pattern, but it might take a few weeks.  The day job should be back up to normal staffing once the camps come in and business starts up.

My day job is working food service at a university, so summer break means fewer students and faculty coming into the cafeteria.  I'm lucky that I work in a different dining room that's open year round, so I don't have to face being laid off.  But, it also means I have to help out in other areas of the kitchen where staff have been cut to the minimum, like working in the dish pit. and that's not fun.

Kitchen sink needs to be unclogged?  I've got it.  What's the worst that could happen?

D'OH!

At this point, I just want to say, anyone disparaging the people working in a dish pit have no clue what it's like in one.  It's hot, wet, messy and backbreaking labor, and if you don't believe me, just try it yourself.  I doubt most people would last more than three days.

Okay, enough of that little sermon.  On to the Weekly Update, which I extended a bit this week, to cover Fathom Event bringing the extended version of The Lord of the Rings trilogy into theaters.  And I added a mention of Burlynomicon next Tuesday, because why not.

I've been trying to keep the Horror/Sci Fi/Fantasy Calendar up to date, and will continue to do so in the coming week (in-between checking out In A Violent Nature and Furiosa), so you can see all the great films, festivals and events happening in the rest of the year.

Okay, that's all I've got for now.  Stay safe, have a great week, and I'll be back with another Weekly Update from The Shadow Over Portland (hopefully a bit more on time) next weekend.
