Mission statement and BAM Fest horror times

Wow, I have arrived in the 21st Century. I'm now blogging, and naturally, it's about horror. I've been addicted to the scary stuff for most of my life in some degree. Some years, my interest dampens, depending on the things going on. But it always remains in the back of my mind, like a zombie waiting to rise from the grave. And I'm currently in a full blown resurgence, so what better time to start blogging about my truest, oldest love.

But I don't want this to be just about my opinions, though you'll find them sprinkled throughout my writing. I want to keep you, the reader, informed of the movie openings, events and festivals in and around the Pacific Northwest. True, most of the notices might be in the Portland area. After all, I live here and will be heading out to many of these events myself. But I also plan to let people know about happenings throughout the state of Oregon, in Washington, Idaho, California and elsewhere.

So, if you know of some event, or are running a con, festival or happening relating to horror (or other genres; it's MY blog and I can be flexible), let me know. I will write about what's coming up, and about the event itself (if I'm able to attend).

That said, here's a heads up. The Portland BAM (Beer and Movie; is there anything better?) Fest is in full swing and here's a few entries for interested horror fans:

Cinema 21:
House (Japan 1977) - Fri/Sat 2/19 & 20 at 9 pm, Sun 2/21 at 7:45 pm
The Deadly Spawn - Fri 2/19 at 10:45 pm
The Human Centipede - Sat 2/20 at 10:45 pm
Manhunter - Tues 2/23 at 8:45 pm

Mission Theater:
Trick Or Treat (1986) - Mon2/22 at 10 pm

If anyone from BAM Fest reads this, send me your info next year and I'll do a more complete write up. Here's hoping I make a few of these, though The Human Centipede is out (dang job!). Hope to see you there!
