The only sad part of that headline is THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR is almost over, and it just doesn't feel that way. The leaves are still clinging to trees, and temperatures are unusually high throughout the Pacific Northwest. In fact, Seattle was 88 degrees on Sunday, shattering a previous record set for the day by 16 freaking degrees. And here in Portland, we reached 80 degrees on 12 days, twice the previous October record.
And I haven't even gotten into the smoke coating the area, causing Portland and Seattle air quality to be among the worst globally, with other weather stations recording the worst in the US.
To sum it up, October has felt weird this year. But all that changes today, as a storm system brings winds and rain to clear the air, drop temperatures, and help get things feeling more like October in the Pacific Northwest.
Of course, if enough fallen leaves clogged up the storm drains, getting around could be pretty wet this weekend.
Regardless of the weather, the magical day will be here soon, so this edition of the Weekly Update covers all the events I've found taking place through October. From great movies to stage events, from horror-themed burlesque to art gallery openings, the Pacific Northwest is full of great events for Horror/Sci Fi/Fantasy Fans.
Don't forget to check out the Halloween 2022 page for all the haunted attractions and corn mazes in the region. I plan to keep the page open through the first weekend of November, as some attractions will be open past Halloween, so you can keep the holiday spirit going.
Also, the Horror/Sci Fi/Fantasy Calendar is up-to-date with events taking place during the rest of the year, and a few coming in 2023. You know I'll be adding more events as I find them, so keep checking back!
Well, that's all for now. Stay safe, take care, and I'll be back next week with more great genre events taking place under The Shadow Over Portland!
If you'd like to support the site, please visit my Ko-fi page. Thank you!
Happening This Week
