I can't imagine why my arms feel so heavy
But the scary fun isn't over at the end of the year. I've already started working on events in 2017, so swing by the Horror Calendar to start filling in that calendar you're planning to buy around January 1.
If you're a filmmaker, be sure to check out the Open Film Submission page for upcoming festivals looking to fill their schedules. Deadlines are coming soon for a couple, so don't wait too long!
And remember, it's never too late to list your event, or one you know of, at this site. Just email me at shadowoverportland@live.com and I'll take care of the rest.
As always, please help spread the word. Should you attend any of the events listed on this site, please let the organizers know you read about it at The Shadow Over Portland!
Now, let's get to the Weekly Update!!
November, 2016
Wednesday, November 30
The Hollywood Theatre (4122 NE Sandy Blvd in Portland, OR) and Re-Run Theater present the six part episode, Doctor Who: The Invasion of Time, tonight at 7:30 pm. Vintage Sci Fi Toy ads will be played between each chapter. For more details, and a link to advance ticket sales, visit The Hollywood Theatre website.

The Joy Cinema and Pub (11959 SW Pacific Highway in Tigard, OR) ends November with a great Weird Wednesday presentation, Horror of the Zombies (AKA The Ghost Galleon). And by great, I mean CHEESY! Third in the Blind Dead film series, this time the reanimated Knights Templar are on a ghost ship, which is boarded by a party lost at sea and, as expected, mayhem ensues. As with the previous films, the zombies look amazing. But be prepared, as the miniature work will have you falling out of your seats and rolling in the aisles with laughter. The show starts at 9:15 pm and admission is free, but you must be 21 or older to attend. Be sure to spend the money you save on admission at the concession stands and for your own safety, DO NOT make the Knights Templar angry by sneaking in outside food and drink. They can hear you what you're eating! For more details, visit the Joy Cinema website.

Up until the 50s, Walt Disney Studios had no problem scaring the LIVING HELL out of kids. Unlike today's animated films, Disney would fuel nightmares, even if everything turned out okay by the final frame. As an example, Sleeping Beauty might have nice fairies and a happy ending, but Maleficent is a wonderful, EVIL being, and her final battle with the prince is damn scary. The Hollywood Theatre (4122 NE Sandy Blvd in Portland, OR) is showing this classic in GLORIOUS 70mm today and tomorrow (Sunday, December 11) at 1:30 and 4 pm. If you can, don't miss the chance to see this on the big screen in 70mm! For more details, and a link to advance ticket sales, visit The Hollywood Theatre website.
